One of the pleasures in life is good food, particularly in a country like Greece. For many, it is a great pleasure to sample the local cuisine but have you ever wondered how it is made? For those of you who have, it is possible to participate in a cookery workshop – a chance to learn some of the secrets of some of the traditional dishes.

The workshop takes place in the village of Agios Lavrentios. In a small group, you will learn how to prepare some special dishes and of course the results of your efforts will be enjoyed together at the end of the evening. If you wish for transportation back to your villa by taxi our local representative will be happy to explain the possibilities to you.

We would like to introduce you to Mrs. Eleni Xatzenikoláou. Together with her husband, she moved some years ago from the town of Volos to the natural village Ágios Lavrentios. Driven by her love for nature and everything it produces, she started a garden for vegetables, fruits and herbs, from which she would make the most delicious dishes that she then shared with friends and family. The same friends motivated her to share her cooking skills with others. Thus arose the idea of organizing workshops on a small-scale basis. During the evening sessions whe will teach some of the traditional recipes for pitas (pies) for which the Pelion are is so well known. Most of the ingredients are the fresh produce from the garden of Mr and Mrs Xatzenikolaou. Surprise your friends at home by having the skill to prepare a traditional greek meal!

Ágios Lavrentios
The beautiful village where the workshop takes place is just one of many in the mountainous part of Pelion however this one also has its own monastery, built in the 11th century. The village is full of the typical Piliotische architecture and has a panoramic view of the area towards the sea. Perhaps time will allow you to take a stroll through the village with its several squares, kafenion and churches and of course the iconic Archontiko. Maybe you will be lucky and come across a musical event as the village has a great reputation for musical activities.

Minimum participation 6 persons, maximum 8
Should the workshop need to be cancelled due to insuficient participation you will be notified 4 weeks in advance.

The garden of Pelion is a project of Ross Holidays, we also offer villas in South Crete.
